OUR CAPABILITIES: MACHINE CONTROLLED EARTHWORK As a leader in our industry Burnside Services, Inc. has been using the Global Positioning System (GPS) for the layout and grading of projects. This technology for the construction industry allows for faster job cycles, reduced rework, and lower operating costs. GPS is a worldwide radio-navigation system formed from a constellation of 24 satellites and their ground stations. GPS uses these “man-made stars” as reference points to calculate positions accurate to a matter of centimeters with the advanced forms of GPS which we are currently utilizing. ATHLETIC FIELD CONSTRUCTION The most important factor when designing a new athletic field is creating a field that meets the clients needs and exceeds their expectations. Burnside Services Athletic Field Construction takes into account the clients budget, level of play, amount of play, maintenance capabilities, water availability, drainage and finally aesthetics. SOIL FUMIGATION This process stabilizes the soil and has been found to be the best thing for weed seed & diseases. Methyl bromide (MB) has been the predominant broad-spectrum soil fumigant for controlling pests prior to turfgrass installation on golf courses, sports fields, and sod farms. Pest problems controlled with MB include weeds, diseases and plant parasitic nematodes, however, MB fumigation is primarily used to eliminate weeds and to insure genetic purity of turfgrasses. In the U.S., MB is used on newly constructed and reconstructed golf course greens, and sometimes on tees and fairways.
