The Business Council of Canada is a not-for-profit, non-partisan organization that represents business leaders from across the country. Founded in 1976 and based in Ottawa, Ontario, it operates in the public policy sphere to reflect the interests of diverse regions and sectors. Its member companies collectively employ more than two million Canadians and contribute a large share of federal corporate taxes, while driving much of Canada’s exports, corporate philanthropy, and private-sector investment in research and development. Through supply chain partnerships, service contracts, and mentoring programs, members support hundreds of thousands of small businesses and entrepreneurs in communities nationwide. The council has pursued policy-focused initiatives, including launching a Task Force in May 2023.
