The British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (FSC) is an autonomous regulatory authority established in December 2001 by the Financial Services Commission Act, 2001, with responsibility for regulation, supervision, and inspection of all financial services in and from within the British Virgin Islands. The FSC oversees insurance, banking, trustee business, company management, mutual funds, securities and investment activities, and the registration of companies, limited partnerships, and intellectual property. It took over regulatory responsibilities previously handled by the government through the Financial Services Department and is tasked with promoting public understanding of the financial system, policing the regulated activity perimeter, reducing financial crime, and preventing market abuse. The Commission is located in Pasea Estate, Road Town, British Virgin Islands, and employs about 201-500 people; its website is bvifsc.vg.
