Califa Group is a nonprofit library membership consortium representing more than 230 libraries, and it is the largest library network in California. Founded in 2004 and based in San Francisco, California, the organization aims to provide cost-effective delivery of services, programs, and products through its membership network. It brokers library product procurement and collaborates with the California State Library to administer statewide projects funded by the Library Services and Technology Act, including the enki ebook platform. Its membership encompasses academic, public, school, corporate, medical, legal, and special libraries, with governance by a Board of Directors elected from among the members. In addition to procurement support, Califa offers continuing education through the Infopeople project and manages master contracts and pricing arrangements with publishers and vendors. In 2020, Califa partnered with Bibliolabs to launch the enki California Digital Library, a free ebook library accessible to California residents.
