California Montessori Project is a public, tuition-free charter school network serving students in kindergarten through eighth grade in the Greater Sacramento Area. It operates six schools across seven locations, with Elk Grove hosting two campuses, and serves more than 3,000 students; each school is authorized by one of four local districts. The curriculum blends Montessori methods with California standards to provide hands-on, student-centered learning in multi-age classrooms, supported by small class sizes and a teaching team that includes a lead teacher and an assistant.
CMP’s vision emphasizes intellectual, social, and emotional development through fostering independence, self-respect, confidence, social responsibility, and global citizenship. Rooted in the Montessori philosophy established by Dr. Maria Montessori, the organization aims to offer environments and resources that support high academic achievement while developing well-rounded individuals and contributing to the community. The organization is based in Carmichael, California, and operates within the public education system in the Greater Sacramento Area.
