The California Winter League is a development platform for free agent baseball players seeking their first or next professional contract, and it has been operating since 2010. The league runs a month-long January-February season in Palm Springs, California, featuring 4-6 games per week that are attended by professional managers and Major League scouts. It exposes roughly 200 players each year and, over its 14 seasons, has helped more than 850 players sign pro contracts, all supported by a small staff. Within the spectator sports field, the CWL functions as a networking hub, drawing 25-30 professional organizations annually before spring training. In November 2023, the league announced a multi-year partnership with TrackMan Group to record and distribute player data and analytics for all CWL players.
