Camp HASC operates as the summer program of the Hebrew Academy for Special Children. Based in Brooklyn, New York, the camp runs in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York and serves more than 300 individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities through a seven-week sleep-away experience. The program blends academic support with extensive recreational activities, providing therapies in speech, physical, occupational and music, along with computer instruction, adaptive physical education and adaptive aquatics. Participants can take part in sports, swimming, field trips, evening activities, Torah study and concerts, in addition to mainstream social programs with other camps. A large team of counselors and support staff live with the campers around the clock, creating a nurturing environment that visitors describe as magical. The organization sits within the Individual and Family Services sector.
