Camp Oak Hill is a nonprofit camp in Southeastern Lancaster County, PA with facilities for community events, family gatherings, summer camps and retreats. History Camp Oak Hill has a rich history going back to its founding in 1948 by Ms. Margaret V. Richardson and Mrs. Irene Walker, two African-American women from Philadelphia, PA who pioneered the first summer camp for girls of "color" who were barred from other camps. The camp was purchased in 1981 by a nonprofit organization operated by Curt and Judy Ashburn. In the spirit of the founders, Camp Oak Hill summer camps serve primarily low-income children in the Washington, DC to Philadelphia, PA region. Camp facilities have been expanded and improved to provide for community events and overnight retreats. Mission The mission of Camp Oak Hill is to provide our local community and region with affordable event, retreat, and summer camp facilities in a peaceful setting of natural beauty.
