The Canadian Meat Council (CMC) is a trade association in the government relations sector, based in Ottawa, Ontario, with a small staff of 2-10 employees. It serves as the national voice of Canada's meat industry, representing the entire value chain of red meat production and distribution in Canada, including beef and pork sold internationally, and provides advocacy on behalf of its members to improve Canada's global meat competitiveness. The council focuses on four primary priorities: Regulatory Compliance, International Trade, Public and Stakeholder Engagement, and Member Services. In 2025 it launched the Protein Pact, a sustainability framework for the meat processing sector, and in 2026 joined the Canadian Agri-Food Trade Alliance to bolster trade advocacy. Leadership history includes Christopher White leading the organization for eight years before stepping down in 2024 and Kyle Larkin being appointed chief executive officer effective January 19, 2026.
