Cape Fear River Watch is a Wilmington, North Carolina–based nonprofit organization founded in 1993 that focuses on protecting and improving the water quality of the Cape Fear River Basin through education, advocacy, and action. As part of its work, the organization collaborates with partners to address local environmental concerns, including actions that prompted cleanup of coal ash from a Duke Energy plant and the avoidance of a potentially polluting cement facility along the river. It also serves as a regional hub for information and legal action related to PFAS from a Chemours facility in Fayetteville, contributing to a Consent Order that reduces PFAS releases, and coordinates fisheries restoration within the Cape Fear River Partnership.
