OUR MISSION: To match volunteers and agencies with service opportunities in the Cape Fear Region, through direct and indirect services: Big Buddy, LifeGuide, National Days of Service, Kids Voting, and
CareNet.


Cape Fear Volunteer Center’s Big Buddy program is a one-on-one mentoring program that matches “at risk” youth ages 5-16 in New Hanover County with positive adult role models. The Cape Fear Volunteer Center works to recruit and train volunteers, matches volunteers with youth, offers support and guidance through case management, and provides monthly group activities.


LifeGuides is a program that matches enrollees ages 16-21 who are in or who have been in DSS foster care in New Hanover County with qualified adult mentors. In addition to the need to have a caring adult in their lives, many of the young adults in this program also need one to one guidance on college, apartments, training programs, and various young adult rites of passage.


The Kids Voting mission is to promote voter participation and educate students regarding the voting process. Kids Voting works with public, private, home and charter schools to: Create an informed electorate Increase adult voter turnout Develop lifetime voting habits in youth Kids Voting North Carolina is a private, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that promotes voter participation by educating America’s youth about the importance of being an informed citizen and the responsibilities of voting to sustain democracy.


Kids Care Clubs provide opportunities for young people to engage in meaningful hands-on service as a way to teach caring and compassion, educate about various community issues, and inspire civic involvement at an early age and for a lifetime. Though our DS Club, Do Something Club by providing training and support for club functions like making buttons and selling them, or packing boxes for the troops in Iraq we are promoting the potential of youth volunteerism to local non-profit agencies.
