Capital Stage is a mid-sized nonprofit theatre company based in Sacramento, Northern California, presenting seven full productions each year along with concerts and special events at its Midtown Sacramento venue on 2215 J Street. The organization aims to entertain, engage and challenge audiences with bold, thought-provoking theatre, and it supports professional development through apprenticeships and internships in the performing arts. In addition to its main stage work, Capital Stage offers public performing arts classes and educational opportunities in collaboration with institutions such as CLARA, the Crocker Art Museum and McGeorge School of Law. Founded in 2005, the company has been described by The Sacramento Bee as one of the most respected arts organizations in the region. A recent development was the appointment of Kirk Blackinton to join the Capital Stage team in March 2023.
