Capitol City Opera Company is a nonprofit performing arts organization based in Atlanta, Georgia, founded in 1983 to provide classically trained local singers opportunities to learn and perform full opera roles while developing their professional skills. The company operates as a Southeast regional opera ensemble, focusing on presenting high-quality and innovative opera theatre and offering a range of programs that reach diverse audiences. Its activities include two annual opera productions, a monthly Dinner and a Diva series, a vocal competition, touring madrigals and gala singers, a summer pops concert, and a substantial educational initiative that culminates in hundreds of performances for children each year, serving an estimated 40,000 people annually. Through these programs, Capitol City Opera seeks to make opera accessible to wider segments of the public, including disadvantaged communities, and to support the career development of its local singers. The organization maintains a community presence through tours in the Southeast and in Italy, underscoring its role as a regional platform for emerging opera talent.
