Capitol Hill Village is a member-driven, volunteer-based organization dedicated to supporting older adults who choose to age in place within the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington, DC. Serving a broad community with hundreds of members and volunteers, it offers programs designed to foster social connection, knowledge sharing, and personal growth, while also providing a forum for members to pursue shared interests. The organization emphasizes peer-to-peer and inter-generational models to combat social isolation, address inequities related to income, race, gender, and sexual identity, and help elders maintain independence on their own terms. Most programs are free and open to the public, reflecting a commitment to accessible services for older adults. Capitol Hill Village was founded in 2007 and has grown to become the largest of DC’s Senior Villages, operating within a footprint that covers parts of several east and central neighborhoods of the city.
