Caring Response Madagascar Foundation (CRMF) is a public charity. Its mission is to respond to the needs of the poor of Madagascar, particularly in the area of Toamasina/Tamatave. Our programs emphasize education as the primary means of empowering the poor. CRMF was incorporated in the State of Ohio, U.S.A., in November 2001. It has been designated a tax-exempt public charity by the Internal Revenue Service under Section 501(c)(3). CRMF was founded as a result of the experiences of David E. Wiltse who, while a student at the University of Notre Dame, spent Summer 2000 as a volunteer working with the rural poor under the auspices of the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel, a French Catholic missionary order. All CRMF projects are undertaken in collaboration with ONG St. Gabriel, a locally-led non-profit focused on meeting the needs of the vulnerable populations of Madagascar. Caring Response Madagascar Foundation supports programs that enable the poor to change their own lives. Our core projects emphasize literacy, sanitation and hygiene, healthcare, and economic self-development. We are an all-volunteer organization.
