Founded in 1931, Carlsbad Museum & Art Center is a small- to mid-sized cultural and educational institution based in Carlsbad, New Mexico. It collects, preserves, and interprets artifacts, documents, and artworks related to the prehistory and history of Carlsbad and the surrounding southeastern New Mexico region and the broader American Southwest. Its permanent displays spotlight local and regional history, Native American art and artifacts, and modern and Southwestern art, including the McAdoo Collection of Taos Ten paintings. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions and serves as a community art center, organizing annual school exhibitions for Carlsbad and Loving, as well as other regional shows such as the Zia Quilt Guild and Carlsbad Area Art Association exhibitions. In 2025, it participated in regional arts activity with works displayed as part of a Carlsbad Area Arts Association group show through mid-June.
