Carnaval San Francisco produces a free, two-day cultural festival in San Francisco's Mission District, pairing a Grand Parade with a festival of Latin American and Caribbean music, dance, food, and arts. Now in its fourth decade and its 42nd edition, the event runs over Memorial Day weekend under the theme Salud Es Poder / Health is Wealth. The celebration spans eight blocks and features a parade that begins at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday at 24th and Bryant, moving through Mission Street into the festival area. The festival draws well over 400,000 attendees and occupies Harrison Street between 16th and 24th Streets, with food, music, dance, arts and crafts, and activities for families. In 2017, Carnaval San Francisco announced a partnership with Soltron SF, reflecting collaboration within the Mission District arts community.
