Carolina Ecosystems, Inc. (CEI) is a team of highly experienced scientists formed in 2004 that routinely works with quality engineering firms, local and state governments, and private clients to solve environmental issues and lead infrastructure projects through the regulatory process. 

CEI has extensive experience in all aspects of project development including natural resource assessments and wetland/stream delineations, SEPA/NEPA document preparation, and Clean Water Act and other regulatory permitting.  Each of our projects is led by a senior scientist with over 20 years of experience in the Carolina's, supported by a full staff with capabilities in botany, forestry, GIS, soil science and other related disciplines.  We provide consulting services to many industries including transportation, solid waste, water/wastewater, energy, and mining.

CEI is a Small Professional Services Firm (SPSF) prequalified with NCDOT for environmental permitting, natural resource investigations (delineations, natural community studies, and protected species surveys), mitigation planning, and biological monitoring, and has been selected for four consecutive on-call contracts (2008-2017) for the NCDOT Natural Environment Section. We have a long history of NCDOT transportation experience, including performing over 200 natural resource studies for various NCDOT projects such as new alignments, road widening, bridge replacements, and related infrastructure.  In addition, our senior personnel have been involved in permitting Design-Build (DB) projects since the inception of NCDOT’s Alternative Delivery program.
