Carpe Mundi is a higher education organization based in Portland, Oregon, focused on helping low-income and first-generation college students expand their academic and professional horizons through an immersive year that combines a semester abroad, local internships, and mentorship. The program aims to close the achievement gap by offering experiences that boost students’ social, academic, and professional confidence and encourage continued education, while providing a broader global perspective. Serving a small team, the nonprofit operates within the higher education sector, positioning itself to support students from diverse backgrounds with opportunities that would not typically exist for them. A recent development includes ongoing engagement through the organization’s frequent flyer club, which supports monthly giving to sustain its programs.
