CASA is a volunteer based program. CASA of Central Texas, Inc. advocates for abused and neglected children in the court system by recruiting, training and supporting community volunteers. In 2019, CASA volunteers served 587 children in the four-county service area of Caldwell, Comal, Guadalupe and Hays Counties, but there were an additional 561 children who did not have the voice of a CASA. Volunteers are assigned to one case at a time; therefore, CASA can only serve as many children as there are volunteers. More volunteers are needed, and free training sessions are held throughout the year.
