Casa San Jose is a community resource center in Pittsburgh that links Latino neighbors in need with service providers and resources. It aims to promote integration and self-sufficiency for Latinos and grew out of the sustained work of Sister Janice Vanderneck, who has helped the Latino community navigate the health care system, social services, and the legal system. Over the years, her efforts have benefited more than 1,000 Latinos, and the center was established as a reliable local source of support for underserved immigrant families. Operating in the civic and social organizations sector, Casa San Jose serves the Pittsburgh region and broader southwestern Pennsylvania as a mid-sized community organization. It expanded its footprint with a new office in Washington County in 2021, reflecting broader service access for Latino residents. The organization has also engaged in partnerships to support public health initiatives in the area, including efforts to improve access to vaccines.
