Founded in 1969 and based in Arkville in the Catskill region of New York, the Catskill Center is a regional nonprofit focused on protecting the environmental, cultural, and economic well-being of the Catskills. It pursues this mission through three program areas—Collaboration, Arts, Culture and Education, and Stewardship—each advancing engagement with residents and visitors alike. In its collaborative work, the center convenes stakeholders, supports partnerships, and leads public forums and awareness initiatives related to the Catskill Park. Its Arts, Culture and Education efforts operate across sites including the Catskill Interpretive Center, support school curricula and scholarships, and host artist residencies to interpret the region's resources. Through stewardship programs such as CRISP and SAP, and a land trust that holds conservation easements totaling 2,550 acres and four owned properties totaling 367 acres, the organization protects forests, water quality, and other natural resources.
