CeCoEco - CATIE is a mid-sized research center based in Turrialba, in the Cartago region of Costa Rica, focused on research services related to agriculture and natural resource management. Its mission is to reduce rural poverty in the tropical Americas by promoting competitive and sustainable farming systems through higher education, research, and technical cooperation. The organization aims to generate verifiable, substantive impact on the economic growth and social development of its member countries, while also contributing to the conservation of natural resources and the environment. Its work engages both public and private actors across member countries, supporting education, research, and practical cooperation to address rural development challenges. Recently, the center launched the second edition of the Professional Diploma Program in Cacao, expanding its education offerings. It also participates in international collaborations and partnerships, including joint initiatives with UNEP DTU Partnership and engagement in biodiversity-related dialogues.
