CED Industrial Solutions was originally founded as Theobald Electric Company by brothers Harold and Edward Theobald, Jr. in 1946. First located at Eighth and Main, the Louisville company changed its name to E&H Electric Supply, Inc., and moved to Twelfth and Magazine in 1947 and eventually on to its present location at 804 South Fifth Street. The size of the building has been expanded to more than double its original 30,000 square feet to allow for more inventory. Founded as a complementary business to the construction firm owned by Edward Theobald Sr., E&H specialized in a broad line of electrical products, carrying reputable lines that remain with the company today, such as Allen-Bradley, Hubbell Wiring Devices, Philips lighting, and Hoffman enclosures. The business emphasis of E&H changed when the Theobalds recognized that the technological superiority of programmable controllers presented a newly affordable area of improvement for their customers. The challenge of the high technology markets was met so successfully by E&H that the firm entered its third stage when it was acquired in December of 1982 by Consolidated Electrical Distributors — a California-based company that owns more than 500 similar businesses in the United States and Great Britain.Today we are known as CED Industrial Solutions. In 2013, we decided to focus primarily on the growing Industrial market for electrical and automation supplies in Kentuckiana. We also wanted to redefine our goal of delivering complete solutions for all of our customers, large and small. As we continue to grow, we constantly look for new and better ways to serve our customers. We hope this new solutions-based focus will provide even more value and support, upholding the great E & H name that we have worked to create, maintain and better for decades.
