Founded in 2009 and based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, CEF focuses on people facing homelessness or housing instability. The organization provides tailored, person-focused support alongside financial literacy education and tools to help individuals grow savings and build assets. Members receive ongoing, one-on-one guidance from volunteer Advocates who are trained in racial equity and trauma-informed approaches to help pursue their stated goals, such as securing housing or finding work.
