The Center for Community Practice is part of Community Services Unit, Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, University of Rochester, working collaboratively with the Department of Community and Preventive Medicine, the Center for Health and Behavior, Department of Psychiatry, Syracuse University; and in partnership with the Monroe County Department of Public Health.

We research, practice, and teach to improve community health. Our expertise is in the practice of evidence-based STD/HIV prevention including the use of evidence-based behavioral interventions and public health strategies for community-based providers and public health providers. Our expertise is also in the prevention and clinical management of STD/HIV, Hepatitis (Hep), and Tuberculosis (TB).

We offer classroom, on-line training and technical assistance to community-based organizations, clinics, and local, state, and jurisdiction public health agencies.

URCCP is designated as a Regional Training Center and Center of Expertise for the New York State Department of Health, AIDS Institute; a Behavioral Intervention STD/HIV Prevention Training Center and a Public Health Capacity Building Assistance Center for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
