Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) operates in the international trade and development sector, seeking to strengthen democracy through private enterprise and market-oriented reform. It is one of the four core institutes of the National Endowment for Democracy and an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Since 1983, CIPE has worked with business leaders, policymakers, and civil society to build the institutions essential to a democratic society, focusing on enterprise ecosystems, democratic governance, business advocacy, and anti-corruption and ethics. Based in Washington, DC, the organization maintains a regional and global network to advance its mission. Recent developments include launching the Africa Hub in Lagos in 2025 and, in 2026, partnering with the Center for the Study of Democracy to train 23 think tanks from Armenia, Georgia, and Moldova on identifying illicit financial flows, sanctions evasion, and hidden economic influence.
