The Center for Mathematics and Teaching (CMAT) provides cognitively demanding and engaging materials that are accessible to all students, and delivers content-driven professional development to teachers. At CMAT, we believe all students have the ability and deserve the opportunity to learn the mathematics that will make them capable and confident problem solvers, and put them on the pathway to college and career readiness. Our mission is to ignite and nurture passion in middle school students and teachers about the elegance and utility of mathematics. Our Common Core materials have been built from the ground up to maximize efficiency and coherence, to develop concepts with accuracy and precision, to provide ample practice for fluency, and to include time and opportunities to explore complex problems and tasks.
