The Center for Urban Families (CFUF) is an independent nonprofit organization based in Baltimore, Maryland. Founded in 1999, CFUF targets Baltimore’s hard-to-reach populations—former inmates, individuals with histories of substance use, and low-income non-custodial fathers—by offering programs that reconnect them with their children and promote economic stability through work, along with access to additional interventions and supportive services. Each year, CFUF supports roughly 1,400 men and women as they pursue economic self-sufficiency. Operating in the individual and family services sector, CFUF advances its All In initiative to expand social and economic opportunity while advocating for policies that promote equity and racial justice. Its core initiatives include the Baltimore Responsible Fatherhood Project, STRIVE Baltimore, STRIVE Future Leaders, Back to Business, Couples Advancing Together, Alumni Services, and The Practitioner's Leadership Institute (PLI). Recent collaborations illustrate external partnerships that expand access to workforce development, such as a training cohort supported by CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield in partnership with Coppin State University.
