Center of Balance is a wellness and fitness studio based in Mountain View, California, founded in 1997 by health and movement specialist Tom McCook and his wife, Karen deMoor. It has grown into an internationally recognized learning destination and teacher training center focused on Pilates, CoreAlign, Franklin Method, BodyCode System, chiropractic care, and physical therapy. The studio emphasizes conscious movement and self-awareness through a community of instructors committed to ongoing learning and professional excellence. Students and teachers travel from the Bay Area and from Europe and Asia to participate in training and continuing education, illustrating its reach as a center for mind-body education. Its offerings include both private and class-based sessions designed to engage body and mind and to promote healthier movement for people at varying fitness levels and conditions. In 2015, the organization opened a 5,000-square-foot center—a renovated warehouse with separate studios for mat classes, workshops, and private or small-group equipment work, featuring bamboo flooring, 20-foot ceilings, skylights, and Balanced Body equipment.
