In 1929, a group of concerned and dedicated citizens in Utica, N.Y. recognized a need in the community and rose to a noble challenge: to help people who were blind and visually impaired. Aspiring to a greater good, they founded the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI). Their mission then was to assist people who are blind or visually impaired to achieve their highest levels of independence.

It remains so today.

CABVI continues to operate as a not-for-profit agency that serves people who are blind or visually impaired, from newborns to the elderly, generally free of charge. We offer comprehensive vision rehabilitation, employment and technology services personally tailored to meet an individual's needs.
