The Central Bank of Suriname (CBvS) is the country's monetary authority within the banking sector, located at 16-20 Waterkant, Paramaribo 1801, Suriname. It was established on 1 April 1957 and has since played an important role in the Surinamese economy. The CBvS functions as the issuer of Suriname’s currency and as custodian of the country's international reserves, ensuring adequate gold and foreign currency to meet external payment obligations. It is tasked with safeguarding the stability of the domestic and external value of the Surinamese currency. The organization employs between 201 and 500 people and reports revenue in the range of $1 million to $10 million.
