Central Community School System is a public education administrator based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It opened on July 1, 2007, becoming one of the few new urban school systems established in the state in the last century. The district assumed ownership of four aging campuses from the East Baton Rouge Parish School System: Bellingrath Hills Elementary, Tanglewood Elementary, Central Middle, and Central High, and has grown from about 3,300 students at opening to more than 4,800 today. To address overcrowding, the district pursued campus consolidations and renovations, including the 2012 opening of a shared campus for Central Intermediate and Central Middle on Sullivan Road and the addition of a Ninth Grade Academy in 2015-16. After the August 2016 flood affected Tanglewood Elementary, the school was renovated and reopened in January 2017, and in late 2025 the district announced a $3 million upgrade to Central High School's athletic facilities, including a redesigned weight room and related amenities.
