Central Georgia EMC is a not-for-profit, consumer-owned electric distribution cooperative based in Jackson, Georgia. It serves as a local utility in the Middle Georgia region, delivering electric service to its members. In addition to electricity, CGEMC has pursued broadband expansion through its Connect ISP initiative, which emerged from a collaboration with Conexon; Connect ISP was launched in 2021 and aims to bring high-speed internet access to about 80,000 homes and businesses across 18 Middle Georgia counties, including Jasper. The organization positions itself at the intersection of traditional energy service and digital connectivity, addressing customer needs for reliable power and faster broadband. In 2025, CGEMC and Conexon Connect announced the completion of their largest fiber-to-the-home project to date, reflecting a continued emphasis on fiber infrastructure alongside electric distribution.
