Central Rivers Area Education Agency (AEA) is a regional education service organization serving public school districts and accredited nonpublic schools across 18 counties in north central Iowa. Based in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the agency partners with local districts to provide access to specialized staff and services that individual schools typically cannot hire on their own, with the aim of improving learning outcomes and student well-being. Operating within the field of education administration programs, it coordinates a range of supports for districts and schools. Its special education services bring together a broad team—academic and behavior consultants, audiologists, occupational and physical therapists, school psychologists, social workers, and speech-language pathologists—along with educational consulting in literacy, math, professional development, science, and instructional technology. It also offers media services, including library media specialists and creative services, and provides technology support for schools. In 2026, Central Rivers AEA announced the launch of a mentoring and induction program to support new teachers and their mentors.
