CET Academic Programs is a study abroad organization with roots dating to 1982, when it began as China Educational Tours in Beijing. It has since evolved into a Washington, D.C.–area operation that designs and runs semester, summer, and customized programs for students worldwide. The organization emphasizes rigorous academics, professional program management, and robust student services, and it aims to immerse participants in host communities while pursuing environmentally responsible practices and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion across its programs and operations. Its offerings serve students seeking international study experiences and the colleges and universities that partner to create these opportunities; examples include collaborations with Howard University College of Medicine in 2019 to design and launch a semester-long program in Colombia focused on race, ethnicity, and identity, and a 2019 partnership with Dickinson College. Based in the Washington, D.C. area, CET operates as a mid-sized organization with a global program portfolio and partner network. Additionally, in 2019 the company appointed Vanessa Sterling as Senior Manager for Health & Safety.
