Retirement planning should not be a stressful time.  It should also be about finding someone you can trust to help build you a financial and investment plan without feeling like you just met a used car salesman.  

That is why we take a different approach to working with those in or near retirement.  Understanding your goals and building a retirement plan is what every financial advisor should do, however, we believe the retirement plan should come back and be designed around you and your needs,  Not the financial planning firms obligations.  That is why we maintain our independence, so that every decision that we make is based on you as the client, not the firm.  

Vince Oldre, the founder of CFG Retirement, was able to learn from his father, Eldon Oldre (who founded CFG Insurance Services and was one of the largest in Minnesota until he sold in 2001) the ropes to retirement planning.  However, instead of following the typical path of joining an insurance company and call himself a financial planner, Eldon steered Vince in the direction of learning and training first, NOT selling.  Because of that, Vince was fortunate to understand that it is important to help those in or near retirement by educating and provide solutions.  Not try to sell them.  

CFG Retirement process is to help those in or near retirement by educating them in the financial world.  Help point them to where they can find information and directions.  It is at that point that the person has the choice to continue their path on their own or ask CFG Retirement for their help where they can hire them to help them with their retirement and investment needs. 

At no point should someone feel pressured or "pitched" on financial planning.  By educating, you understand where you are at now, and understand if you make any changes that it will benefit you, not hurt you.

That is the CFG Retirement way.
