Chaffee Crossing is Arkansas' premier economic development project located in Fort Smith and Barling. Over 7,000 acres are managed by the Fort Chaffee Redevelopment Authority for industrial, commercial, retail, residential, historical and recreational development using mixed-use, Smart Growth principles. Land is available for sale.

International industrial tenants include Umarex USA, Walther Arms, Mars PetCare, Graphic Packaging and Glatfelter. Other industrial neighbors include Old Dominion Freight, Phoenix Metals, Affinity Chemical and Industrial Precast. Nearly 1,500 industrial, commercial, retail, government and non-profit jobs have been created.

   Over 1,600 residential units are under construction or completed

   Five healthcare and veterinary clinics

   Several churches will soon break ground.

HISTORIC DISTRICT

The Chaffee Crossing Historic District is on the National Register of Historic Places. It includes three museums, the Chaffee Barbershop Museum, the Museum of Chaffee History and the Vietnam Veterans Museum. The barbershop is the site where Elvis Presley received this first G.I. buzz cut on March 25, 1958.
