The Chamber Orchestra of Europe is a private, London, England-based ensemble founded in 1981 by graduates of the European Union Youth Orchestra. It maintains a core group of around sixty musicians who pursue parallel careers as international soloists, leaders and principals of other orchestras, and tutors, supported by a smaller administrative staff. The orchestra performs regularly across major European cities and, on occasion, in the United States and the Far East. The COE maintains close ties with leading venues and festivals, including the Lucerne Festival, the Philharmonie de Paris, and the Concertgebouw. It has a substantial recorded legacy, with more than 250 works released and multiple prize-winning recordings, and it operates its own label, COE Records, in association with ASV Records. In October 2024, Maria Włoszczowska was appointed as leader and director.
