The Champlain Valley AHEC serves Addison, Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle counties of Vermont. We promote healthcare workforce development to ensure future, accessible and high quality healthcare in our region. Mission Our mission is to improve access to quality healthcare by working with community and academic partners to support healthcare workforce development through recruitment, retention and continuing education of health care professionals. Company Overview Champlain Valley AHEC is a member of the Vermont Statewide AHEC Program Network. The Vermont Statewide AHEC Program Network is a community-university partnership of the University of Vermont College of Medicine and three regional centers: Champlain Valley AHEC, Southern Vermont AHEC and Northeastern Vermont AHEC. Vermont’s AHEC Program was established by the University of Vermont College of Medicine in 1996. Ongoing support is provided by the University of Vermont College of Medicine with contributions from the US Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Fletcher Allen Health Care, the State of Vermont and Vermont’s community hospitals. Description Encourage and support middle and high school students to explore over 300 health care careers such as that of nurse, social worker, pharmacist, dentist, physician, psychologist and many allied health professionals: • Career Fairs • Classroom presentations • Middle school and high school clubs • Focus on Health Careers Conference at Vermont Technical College * MedQuest and CollegeQuest
