Founded in 1978 by Louis Botto, the group has built a global audience through extensive recording activity and thousands of live concerts. Its repertoire extends from Renaissance origins to classical, gospel, jazz, and popular music, with a strong emphasis on commissioning new works. In addition to performances, Chanticleer maintains a substantial education and outreach program in San Francisco and presents an annual concert series, including a celebrated holiday program.
