The Charleston Friends of the Library is a nonprofit organization that supports the Charleston County Public Library system. It raises funds to sustain more than 7,000 library programs each year, including Summer Reading, and invites community involvement through donations of time, money, and books. Based in Charleston, South Carolina, the group plays a facilitative role in expanding access and programming for residents, from children learning to value reading to teens seeking a constructive after-school environment and adults pursuing new skills or language support. For more than 30 years, the majority of its program funding has come from regional book sales and the That BIG Book Sale held in the fall and mid-winter in Charleston. The organization operates with a very small staff, and a recent development is the relocation of its full operations to a temporary location at Citadel Mall in Charleston in June 2025.
