The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra is a regional performing arts organization based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Founded in 1932, it is the oldest operating symphony orchestra in the Carolinas. Throughout the year it reaches more than 130,000 music lovers through live concerts, broadcasts, community events, and educational programs. The CSO maintains a professional core of musicians and supports four youth orchestras, along with educational initiatives focused on serving under-resourced communities in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area. A recent development is a collaboration with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra to present a Levi Taylor work in Charlotte, with the world premiere scheduled for January 2027.
