Founded in 1971 by the Pennsylvania General Assembly, CCIU operates from Downingtown, Pennsylvania, and serves as a regional hub providing business and administrative, communications, technology, and human resources services to school districts and schools. In April 2025, Shannon Brown was named the inaugural principal of the Engle Education Center.
