The Chicago Society for Space Studies is a Chicago-area organization founded in 1977 to promote space exploration and public understanding of space science. It advances its educational mission by sponsoring conferences and arranging appearances by astronauts, cosmonauts, and other space professionals in the Chicago area. The organization also operates a Speakers Bureau that provides space exploration presentations to youth groups, astronomy clubs, libraries, museums, and schools. Based in Schaumburg, Illinois, CSSS is a small, volunteer-driven entity within the broader aviation and aerospace community. It has received National Space Society Chapter of the Year awards at the International Space Development Conference, including an award for 2023 and a 2024 Chapter of the Year recognition announced at the 2025 conference.
