Chicago Underwriting Group, Inc. is a wholly owned Chicago Underwriting Group, Inc., established in December 1983, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Old Republic International Corporation. Chicago Underwriting Group is Old Republic's exclusive underwriter for Directors and Officers Liability Insurance and Professional Liability Insurance. 

For more than 30 years, we have consistently insured these classes of business. We do not seek to be the largest insurer in terms of premium volume but focus instead on being an effective niche market, concentrating on the individual account and evaluating each on its particular characteristics. This allows us to provide our clients with long-term, consistent insurance protection. We are proud of our risk selection, service and ability to find solutions for unique or difficult accounts. 

Chicago Underwriting Group offers its products and services through a nationwide network of independent retail and wholesale insurance brokers. While we enjoy strong relationships with many of our policyholders, we are committed to the brokerage system as the best means to match insurer with buyer. 

Complementing our underwriting is our in-house group of claims professionals who form an effective team with outside counsel, co-insurers, the broker and the Insured. This close link between underwriting and claims works well for our policyholders as there is no separation between the two functions, either physically or philosophically. Our claims staff assist the underwriters as appropriate during the underwriting process, and there is similar cooperation in the event of a claim.
