Chief Architect Software develops and publishes 3D architectural home design tools for builders, designers, architects, and home DIY enthusiasts. The company offers two primary product lines: Chief Architect Professional, aimed at professional residential design, and Home Designer for the consumer DIY market; both lines are designed to interoperate. Based in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, the company has roots dating back to the introduction of Chief Architect in 1992, establishing itself as a long-standing player in residential design software. Its software supports professional workflows and client collaboration through a 3D Viewer that lets users visualize and share designs with clients on mobile devices. In September 2025, the company announced an integration with BlumSafe to incorporate built-in safes and secure display cabinets into digital designs and remodeling plans, reflecting ongoing product expansion.
