The Children's Home Society of South Dakota (CHS) is a nonprofit organization in the Individual and Family Services industry, located at 801 North Sycamore Avenue, Sioux Falls, South Dakota 57110, United States. Founded in 1893, it is the oldest human services nonprofit in South Dakota, and it expanded through a 1998 merger with Children's Inn, a domestic violence shelter established in 1977. CHS provides emergency shelter, residential treatment, and special education for children, as well as forensic interviews and examinations, foster care and adoption services, and prevention programs. The organization serves victims of child abuse and domestic violence and partners with supportive parents to help children with emotional or behavioral issues; it is accredited by the Joint Commission and licensed by the South Dakota Department of Social Services. Recent leadership and capacity updates include the appointment of Allison Sanderson as chief operating officer in January 2025 and facility expansion on the Sioux Falls campus in 2024.
