China Investment Corporation (CIC) is a wholly state-owned sovereign wealth fund established on 29 September 2007 and headquartered in Beijing, China, with a registered capital of $200 billion. Its mandate is to diversify China's foreign exchange holdings and seek maximum returns for its shareholder within an acceptable risk tolerance. CIC operates in investment management and comprises three subsidiaries: CIC International Co., Ltd. (CIC International), CIC Capital Corporation (CIC Capital), and Central Huijin Investment Ltd. (Central Huijin). Overseas investment and management activities are conducted by CIC International and CIC Overseas, with firewall measures separating overseas, domestic, and internal operations. The organization employs about 501–1000 people and reports revenue in the range of $1 billion to $10 billion.
