China Medical University (CMU) is a Taichung City, Taiwan-based research and medical education institution. Founded as China Medical College in 1958 and renamed CMU in 2003, it encompasses seven colleges offering programs across western medicine, Chinese medicine, pharmacy, nursing, life sciences, management, and public health. The university operates across two major campuses—Taichung (including Wuchuan and Ankang) and Beigang—supported by laboratories, a library, and two teaching hospitals that together underpin its educational and clinical training mission. Recent collaborations illustrate CMU’s active role in research and innovation, including a 2026 partnership to develop a gene-engineered exosome platform for targeted delivery of BDNF mRNA to spinal cord injury. It has launched large-scale health initiatives, such as the China Rural Hypertension Control Project Phase 3, and maintains international links, including a joint research center with Kyoto University focused on cancer research, regenerative medicine, and AI-driven drug discovery.
